Malvinas Day 2027 and 2028
Every 2 April is Malvinas Day in Argentina, to mark the time in 1982 when Argentine forces occupied the Malvinas, seizing them from British control, and sparking the 74-day Falkland War.
In 2027, Malvinas Day falls on Friday 2 April. The holiday will be on Sunday 2 April in 2028.

Formerly, Argentina celebrated a day with a very long name: “The Day of Argentine Sovereignty over the Malvinas, Sandwich, and South Atlantic Islands”. But in 2001, Malvinas Day took the place of this older holiday.
The day is meant as a tribute to the over 600 Argentine soldiers who died during the 10-week conflict over the Falkland Islands. Argentina continues to protest the United Kingdom’s assumption of sovereignty over the islands to this day.
